The Opioid Opus

Nearly 115 people in the United States die every day from opioid overdosing as reported by the NIH in March, 2018. In 2015, nearly 33,000 Americans died as a result of an opioid overdose. Over 2 million Americans suffered from substance abuse disorders in the same year. Since then, those statistics have increased by almost 30% and in some areas upwards of 70%. These numbers are devastating.

As indicated by my previous posting, I dislocated my left shoulder in 2010. I went to the hospital and wasted 5 hours waiting for an X-ray. The Doctor looked at me and said there was nothing she could do but to manage my pain. I was 19 at the time, and walked out of that hospital with a script for 40 Vicodin with 3 possible refills. That medicine will not do anything for my shoulder and the Doctor knew that, yet the script was handed over to me at 19. Luckily, my parents threw it out. For some, that prescription would have been utilized to the fullest extent.

Don't sell yourself short. For bodily conditions like ankles, shoulders, knees, elbows, wrists, and spinal pain, there is nothing a MD can do beside a prescription or surgery. Physical therapy is a great alternative and works for some, but it's not a 100% guarantee. That said, there is another piece of the healthcare pie to consider.

Chiropractic care can significantly restore motion to joints in bad health. It can restore function to tissues once damaged by trauma or accidents. With proper alignment of the spine, the brain can then communicate with the body optimally to ensure that all the correct signals are being transmitted for maximum healing potential. Chiropractic can reduce healing times, increase daily function, restore proper biomechanics and lead to a healthier life devoid of extremely harmful drugs such as opioids.

So when you stop taking the medication and the issue still exists, try Chiropractic instead of getting that refill. Your body will heal organically without the nasty side effects of opioid medication. Chiropractic also functions to heal your body for the longterm and in a natural way. The Show must not go on. Draw the curtains and put an end to unnecessary pain medication. Get help that lasts. Choose Chiropractic for your body.
